James Won-Ki Hong is professor in the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, Korea. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 1991 and an M.S. degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1985. He has worked on various research projects on network and systems management, with a special interest in Web, Java, CORBA, and XML technologies. His research interests include network and systems management, distributed computing, and network monitoring and planning. He is the Director of Distributed Processing and Network Management Lab (dpnm.postech.ac.kr) at POSTECH. He has served as Technical Chair (1998-2000), Vice Chair (2003-2005) and Chair (2005-present) for IEEE Committee on Network Operations and Management (CNOM). He is also serving as Director of Online Content for the IEEE Comsoc for two years starting Jan. 2004. He is a NOMS/IM Steering Committee Member and a Standing Committee Member of Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium (APNOMS, www.apnoms.org). He was technical co-chair of NOMS 2000 and APNOMS'99. He was Finance Chair for IM 2005 (www.im2005.org) and Finance Chair and Chair of Local Planning Committee for NOMS 2004 (www.noms2004.org). He is an editorial advisory board member of International Journal on Network Management (IJNM). He is also editor-in-chief of Korean Committee on Network Operations and Management (KNOM) Review Journal. He is a member of IEEE, Korean Institute on Communication and Sciences (KICS), KNOM, and Korea Information Science Society (KISS).

 Carlos Becker Westphall is Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Santa Catarina - Brazil, where he acts as the leader of the Network and Management Laboratory and also coordinates some projects funded by the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq). Obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1985 and a M. Sc. degree in Computer Science 1988, both at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and a D. Sc degree in Computer Science (Network Management) at the Université Paul Sabatier, France, in 1991. He acted as a local group coordinator in the European MAX/ESPRIT II project which involved the Alcatel- TITN, British Telecom, HP, CSELT, SIRTI and NKT Companies. Since 1994, he has  been a member of IFIP/IEEE IM (International Symposium on Integrated Network Management) and IEEE/IFIP NOMS (Network Operations and Management Symposium), IEEE/IFIP DSOM (Distributed Systems Operations and Management), IEEE LANOMS (Latin American Network Operations and Management Symposium) and IEEE APNOMS (Asia Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium) Technical Program and Organizing Committees. He also has been an Board of Editors (since 1995) and Senior Technical Editor (since 2003) of the Journal of Network and Systems Management of Kluwer Acadenic / Plenum Publishers. From May 2000 to May 2005, he acted as "Secretary" of  IEEE CNOM (Committee on Network Operation and Management). Since 2003 member of the core team of the TMF UP (TeleManagement Forum Universities Program). Member 2004-2005 of IEEE ComSoc Membership Programs Development Board. Editorial Board member of the Computer Networks Journal (The International Journal of Computer and Telecommunications Networking, Former title: Computer Networks and ISDN Systems) of Elsevier Computer Science, since 01/20/2004. Member of the marketing team (since 2004) for the launching of a new electronic publication sponsored by IEEE ComSoc in the area of  Network and Service Management.

Young-Tak Kim is a professor in the school of electrical engineering and computer science (EECS) of Yeungnam University (http://eecs.yu.ac.kr/English/), Korea. He graduated Yeungnam Univ. in 1984, and received Master Degree and Ph.D. degree from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in 1986 and 1990, respectively. He joined Korea Telecom (KT) in March 1990, where he had researched and developed an ATM Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Switching System, and networking technologies of the ATM Highway for Korean Information Infrastructure. From 1991 to 1994, he participated in the international standardization activities of ITU-T Study Group 13 as the representative of Korea Telecom (KT), where he submitted several contributions on the transport network for multimedia telecommunications, including ITU-T I.374. He transferred to Yeungnam University in September 1994. He has performed many research projects in the area of “High-speed Telecommunications Networking” and “Network Operations and Management,” including the development of TMN/GDMO agent platform and the development of network simulator for ATM transit networking with OP-NET. Currently he is the director of government supported University IT Research Center (ITRC) which is developing “QoS-guaranteed Traffic Engineering and Multimedia Service Platform in the Broadband convergence Network (BcN).” He had been working as a visiting scholar in NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology), USA, where he was involved in the development of the GMPLS Network Simulator for next generation optical Internet, called GLASS (GMPLS Lightwave Agile Switching Simulator) ( http://dns.antd.nist.gov/glass/.) His research interests include QoS-guaranteed inter-AS traffic engineering and broadband mobile Internet service provisioning on a broadband converged wired & wireless network environment. Prof. Young-Tak Kim is a member of IEEE Communication Society, KICS (Korea Institute of Communication Society), KISS (Korea Information Society), KIPS (Korea Information Processing Society), and Korea Multimedia Society. He has been working as an organization committee member of APNOMS (Asia Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium) and IEEE NOMS-2004 (Network Operations and Management Symposium).

Marcus Brunner is chief researcher at the Network Laboratories of NEC Europe Ltd. in Heidelberg, Germany. He received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), while working in the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK) of the Electrical Engineering Department. He got his M.S. in Computer Science from ETH Zurich in 1994. Aside from the involvement in different national and international projects, his primary research interests include network architectures, programmability in networks, network and service management. He is actively participating in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) working group on networking. Additionally, he is a leading member of the network management research community with being in the Organization and Technical Program Committees of major network management conferences such as NOMS, IM, DSOM, Policy Workshop, IPOM. Also in the networking area he is in the TPCs of IEEE Globecom, ICC, LCN. He is currently IEEE Globecom symposium co-chair on Autonomic Networking and in the editorial board of the IEEE electronic Transactions on Network and Service Management.
