Commemorative
Issue of Communications Magazine:
Steve Weinstein,
past president and former Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of IEEE Communications Magazine,
has agreed to lead the effort of putting together a special commemorative
issue of the magazine in April of next year, to be delivered to all IEEE
ComSoc members in addition to the regular monthly issues of 2002.
Steve has named
a guest Editorial Board consisting of all past Editors in Chief of IEEE
Communications, IEEE Network, IEEE Personal Communications, and IEEE LTS/LCS.
The plan is for a 50th anniversary issue consisting of the 10 "best
articles" published over the entire histories of all three magazines,
including new introductory commentaries written by the original author(s)
if available, or by other prominent specialists. An invited historical review
of the communications field and our Society, and four articles by prominent
authors on key technology/industry sectors within ComSoc's field of interest
will also be part of the commemorative issue.
The "best articles" will be selected by the guest Editorial Board
from suggestions that will be solicited from various organizations in ComSoc,
and the membership at large.
