The IEEE Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies® (WCET) certification program professionals can clearly demonstrate their knowledge of wireless communication technologies to employers. The program consists of a certification exam and supporting resources to help individuals prepare for the exam. The program is vendor-neutral and trans-national in scope. The focus of the exam is to test the knowledge and on-the-job experience of individuals working in the wireless field for about 3-5 years or more.
Seven areas of expertise are addressed in the exam: RF Engineering, Propagation, and Antennas; Wireless Access Technologies; Network and Service Architecture; Network Management and Security; Facilities Infrastructure; Agreements, Standards, Policies, and Regulations. A company that hires, promotes, or assigns a Wireless Communications Professional (WCP) credential holder can do so with confidence that the individual possesses the essential knowledge associated with performing that task.
WCET certification is guided by an Industry Advisory Board, and supported by Question Writers and Examination Oversight committees. Members of these groups guide future certification examinations to ensure that the most current technologies, up-to-date procedures, and latest regulations and customer needs are part of the examination and therefore part of the certified knowledge and skills. ComSoc is committed to keep WCET current and valuable to both individuals and employers.
