Objectives

The primary purpose of IEEE Wireless Communications is to inform readers on topics of interest to the Personal Communications community. As such, IEEE Wireless Communications provides a focus for highlighting and discussing major personal communications and computing issues and developments. The articles are intended to be of a survey or tutorial nature and may contain some original research results, slanted towards the practical, and comprehensible to the non-specialist.

Organizational Structure

IEEE Wireless Communications magazine is edited by an Editorial Board made up of an Editor-in-Chief, an Advisory Board, Technical Editors, Department Editors; and supported by the Production Staff. There are departments for Book Reviews, Conference Review and Scanning the Literature. The Editor-in-Chief is a member of the Magazines Board.

The Editor-in-Chief directs magazine technical content, manages the Technical Editors, and establishes future magazine technical policy. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for processing articles received from the open call. The Editor-in-Chief interacts with the ComSoc Interactive Magazines Editor for publication in the on-line version of the Magazine: Wireless Communications. The Editor-in-Chief and the Advisory Board review proposals for Special Issues.

Members of the Editorial Board are appointed to their positions by the Editor-in-Chief for a nominal two-year term, with terms extendable to another year, based on mutual agreement of the Editor-in-Chief and the Member of the Editorial Board.  The Editor-in-Chief may confer with the Director of Magazines in making a selection.  Technical Editors participate in discussions that shape the technical direction of the magazine and serve as reviewers for open call papers.
