Supporting Chapter growth and member participation

IEEE ComSoc provides the necessary resources and benefits to support your Chapter’s growth and member participation. Our goal is to make your role as a volunteer Chapter leader as rewarding as possible.

Chapter Funding

Under the Chapter Funding Program, ComSoc makes funds available to assist Chapters in achieving membership goals. Chapters can request funds at the beginning of the year via our annual questionnaire. These funds can be used for a variety of activities, such as special events, member recruitment, and remuneration for special lecturers. Requests are evaluated by the appropriate Regional Director and recommendations are then sent to the Director of Member Services for approval.

Sister Chapter Program

Piloted in 2023, the Sister Chapters program promoted cross-cultural connections and enriched the global diversity within the ComSoc community.  The pilot program brought 10 chapters together with incredible connections and outcomes. As a result of this success, the Sister Chapters Program will continue in 2024 but with funding opportunities for selected chapters.

Coordinating shared technical programming and networking, chapters establish a formal partnership (sisterhood) with a ComSoc chapter from a different country, and preferably from a different region, with different cultural and geographic backgrounds.  The two chapters work together and may receive funding to support their efforts.
