New Online Course on Voice Over LTE: 23 January 2013

Wireless courseA brand new one day online course has been developed by industry leaders Daniel Wong and Vijay K. Varma to cover the topic of Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) and  addresses opportunities and challenges as 4G wireless evolves to an all-IP network.  The course titled, VoLTE: Convergence of IMS-based Voice and LTE starts with a brief overview of GSM/UMTS/HSPA technologies and delves into  the architectural details of EPS capable of supporting not only E-UTRAN and legacy 3GPP radio access technologies, but also other radio access such as eHRPD (EvDO), WLAN, and WiMAX. Additional topics for the lecture include: EPC design; IMS protocols and alternatives to IMS for supporting multimedia over all-IP networks; and the relationship of IMS to Rich Communication Services. Course attendees will learn the roles of CS Fallback (CSFB), Simultaneous Voice and LTE (SVLTE), and Voice Call Continuity (VCC) in providing an evolution to VoLTE.

The differences between VoLTE and VOLGA will be discussed and the course will conclude with an update on the deployment status and market projections for these technologies.
