James Hong is currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Korea. He worked as CTO and senior executive vice president of KT, leading all the R&D efforts of the largest service provider in Korea for the past two years. He has volunteered for IEEE ComSoc for the past 25 years, serving various positions including Director of Online Content, TC Chair, Editor, Conference Chair, and as a member of strategic committees. He is on the NOMS/IM and APNOMS Steering Committees. He is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Network Management and is on the editorial board of IEEE TNSM, JNSM, JCN, and JTM. He received H.B.Sc. and M.S. degrees from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 1983 and 1985, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 1991, all three degrees in computer science. He was Director of ComSoc’s Online Content Board (2004–2005 and 2010–2011), and served on the Sister & Related Societies Board and Marketing & Industry Relations Board. He is currently a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and Emerging Technologies Committee. He was Finance Chair for several conferences, Conference Operations Chair for IEEE GLOBECOM ’09, General Co-Chair of IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium 2010, and has been a member of the NOMS Technical Program Committee since 1994. He was a Special Liaison for ComSoc Activities, ComSoc Asia-Pacific Board (2006–2007).
