IEEE EVENTS

IEEE International Conference on Portable Information Devices (Portable) 2007
Sunday, 25 – Tuesday, 27 March 2007

IEEE PORTABLE 2007 will bring together communications, electrical, industrial, manufacturing, materials, mechanical, optical, and reliability engineers and business leaders involved in various types of Portable Inforamtion Devices (PIDs), to address and discuss state-of-the-art challenges, attributes and pitfalls in PID-related areas of engineering and applied science, with an emphasis on the interaction of the hardware and software, as well as their functional and physical (mechanical) performance, reliability and durability.   Over the past decade, progress in PIDs has revolutionized telecommunications, information engineering, and entertainment systems, and become an essential part of everyday life and business. PIDs make possible vastly enhanced lifestyles - from basics such as reading, note taking, or listening to music, to crunching numbers, watching videos, and following news and sports events while on the go.   This three day conference will offer keynotes from industry leaders, tutorials, panel discussions and technical papers on a plethora of different aspects of PID engineering.

IEEE Mobile WiMAX Symposium: an IEEE WCNC Event
Tuesday, 27 – Wednesday, 28 March 2007

IEEE Mobile WiMAX Symposium continues the tradition from WCNC co-located with CTIA as the state-of-the-art wireless technology forum. With the wide and rapid deployment of wireless LANs technology, WiMAX is an emerging technology in wireless communication technology, and is expected to be a complementary (or competing) part of cellular communications. Following recently successful international standard IEEE 802.16e, broadband wireless networking to support high mobility services and applications is thus getting mature to facilitate the scenarios of ubiquitous broadband mobile communications.  In addition to pioneer technology papers from RF/antenna to transmission/networks, this symposium consists of leading keynote speeches, panels with cutting edge technology, killer applications, innovative services and business models, pioneer system architecture and deployment, global standards (such as WiBRO etc.) and spectrum availability, self-organized and cooperative networking, to provide all participants a fruitful experience through parallel sessions, panels and keynote presentations during this 2-day event.

IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems & Broadcasting 2007
Wednesday, 28 – Thursday, 29 March 2007

The IEEE Broadcast Technology Society is pleased to present the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (Broadband Multimedia 2007).  This industry-oriented premier forum will offer presentation and exchange of technical advances in the rapidly converging areas of multimedia broadcasting, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and networking technologies.  With the theme, "Informing & Entertaining, Anywhere & Anytime," this second symposium in the series will bring together leading engineers, researchers, and service providers from around the world to present and discuss the state-of-the-art research results and challenges in the application and implementation of mobile and broadband multimedia systems.  Among the topics to be explored will be Mobile TV, IPTV, and Datacasting, from a systems and service-deployment perspective, as well as the enabling transmission and multimedia signal processing technologies.
