Tutorial #3 Multicast Communication

Jim Kurose, University. of Massachusetts, Amherst
Jim Kurose received a PhD in Computer Science from Columbia University in 1984 and joined the Computer Science Department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he is now a Professor. He has held visiting positions at IBM Research; INRIA, Sophia Antipolis, France; and Eurecom. His research interests are in computer networking (particularly Multimedia and multicast communication protocols) and multimedia systems.

He is the past Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, and the IEEE Transactions on Communications, and has participated in the Program Committees of IEEE Infocom, ACM Sigcomm, ACM Sigmetrics and other conferences for a number of years. He is a member of the Board of GovernorŐs of the IEEE Communications Society. Professor Kurose is proud to have received several awards for outstanding teaching from the University of Massachusetts as well as national organizations. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, and a member of the ACM.
