Abdallah Shami

Abdallah Shami is a Professor and the Associate-Chair for graduate studies at ECE at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Shami is the Director of the Optimized Computing and Communications Laboratory at Western. Dr. Shami and his group have been working in the areas of intelligent distributed systems, computer and wireless systems, and network-based cloud computing for the past several years; utilizing data analytics, optimization and statistical analysis mathematical tools.  He has been awarded a number of research grants at both the national and provincial levels, including NSERC, CFI, and OCE, and has established collaborations with Mircom, Ericsson Canada, Samsung, plus other indusial partners. His research findings have been published in prestigious journals and presented at leading international conferences. Dr. Shami has received many awards including  IEEE best paper awards, Samsung research award, and many others. Dr. Shami is currently an Associate Editor for IEEE Communications Tutorials and Survey, IET Communications Journal and Wiley Journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing. Dr. Shami has chaired key symposia for IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC, IEEE ICNC, and ICCIT. Dr. Shami is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and Senior Member of IEEE and was the elected Chair of the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Communications Software.
