From the President...

It's still winter here in New Jersey, with snow expected shortly. What better time than now to pick up one of ComSoc's highly regarded publications and read an an archival paper in the Transactions on Network and Service Management or a timely applications article in IEEE Communications Magazine? ComSoc's publications are central among the many services ComSoc offers to its members and to the information and communications technology profession at large. Indeed, publications probably touch more members over a longer career span than any other ComSoc activity. The March issue of Communications Magazine President's Page, titled, "Publications - Polishing ComSoc's Crown Jewels," is devoted to this important Society activity. In it, our VP Publications, Sergio Benedetto, summarizes the activity - and addresses a number of key issues, including "peer review," "open access" and "relevance" of our publications. An underlying theme is to reduce the all important "time to publication." I invite you to read the article here . Until next month, thanks for being an eNews subscriber, as well as for your ongoing interest in Communications Society activities.

Doug Zuckerman
President - IEEE Communications Society
