IEEE Standards Board approved the IEEE 1900.1 standard "Terminology and Concepts for Next Generation Radio Systems and Spectrum Management".

On June 12, 2008 IEEE Standards Board approved the IEEE 1900.1 standard "Terminology and Concepts for Next Generation Radio Systems and Spectrum Management".  This project has been initiated by ComSoc, cosponsored by EMC and has been subsequently transferred to the newly created Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (DYSPAN) Standards Coordinating Committee SCC41.

On behalf of ComSoc Standards Board and SCC41 we congratulate the Working Group chair James Hoffmeyer and his team with the great finale. The standard lays the foundation for future standards in the Dynamic Spectrum Access space by providing a common vernacular and definition of terms to lend clarity and consistency to technical references and specifications

Alex Gelman, ComSoc Director of Standards
Joanna Guenin, Chair of SCC41
