March 30-April 2 the Guadalajara Student Branch ran a
large conference which hosted 1000 students from all over
Mexico. The event was extremely well organized, and ran
very smoothly. They had both local and international speakers,
and the students listened well, asking very good questions.
Celia
Desmond, Past President of IEEE Communications Society
was a keynote speaker. The conference was also attended
by Hugh Rudnick, Past Region 9 Director. The event was
organized by a committee of students from six Guadalajara
universities. The students said that they had had to
work a bit to come to a "meeting of the minds"
on many issues, since the universities operate quite
differently. However, they all thoroughly enjoyed the
effort and said it was an excellent learning experience.
Congratulations
to the students for a tremendous organization, bringing
together many of the students in Mexico.
A Student Branch Chapter gives students the opportunity
