Communications Society Chapter - 2004
The year started with a reduced executive committee, comprising of Chair, Dennis Hartley, Vice Chair, Winston Smith and Treasurer, Amlin Forrest. But by mid year, the Chapter lost its Treasurer. This status remained until the end of the year. Numerous attempts and appeals were made during the period to place others on the Chapter's executive committee. These efforts were all unsuccessful.
Three meetings were held during this calendar year. The first generated interest as a technical presentation would normally do, however the latter two were skewed towards self management. The attendance at these meetings were not significant, but a tremendous amount of interest was generated after the presentations. This interest was based on verbal reports regarding the unprecedented level of attendee participation.
The meetings were as follows:
Jamaica's First Generation Network - May
The Science of Technical Pronunciation - October
Stress Management deploying Aromatherapy - November
The Chapter has maintained its collaboration with The Jamaica Amateur Radio Association and The Jamaica Red Cross. There are discussions underway for maintenance projects with the Red Cross and new projects with the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force.
The Distinguished Lecture Tour for HDTV did not materialize as projected, but will be pursued in year 2005.
