Jamaica Chapter

As a continuation of our mandate to provide interesting leading-edge technology presentations, ComSoc has already given two since the start of year 2001. The one in May was Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and in August it was Antennas and Transmissions Lines. There are two others scheduled for October and November meetings.

The main event planned for this year was the Distinguished Lecture Tour (DLT), which was scheduled for September. But as a result of the attacks in the United States on September 11, this was postponed indefinitely. Projections are that it might occur early next year.

ComSoc Nominations Committee is in the process of naming a slate for year 2002. Their recommendations should be available before the end of October.

Chapter Chair Dennis Hartley participated on ComSoc’s Chapter of the Year (COTY) Award Committee and will attend Global Chapter Chair Congress (GCCC) in San Antonio, Texas, in November.
