Welcome to the N^2 Women Website

Networking Networking Women (N^2 Women) is a discipline-specific community for researchers in the communications and networking research fields. The main goal of N^2 Women is to foster connections among the under-represented women in computer networking and related research fields. N^2 Women allows women to connect with other women who share the same research interests, who attend the same conferences, who face the same career hurdles, and who experience the same obstacles.

Our first meeting was held at the ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing (MobiHoc) on May 24th, 2006 in Florence, Italy. Since May 2006, several other N^2 Women meetings have been held at various ACM and IEEE research conferences (see the list under Events). We have created an email list for the N^2 Women group, N2Women@acm.org, to assist in our networking goals. There are currently over 210 members of N^2 Women!

N^2 Women is an ACM SIGMOBILE program that is supported by the IEEE Communications Society, Microsoft Research and HP Labs.


Participating in N^2 Women

There are three ways you can participate in N^2 Women:

  1. Join N2Women@acm.org. To join, email N2Women-Info@acm.org . Note: the amount of traffic on this list is quite small.
  2. Attend one of the planned N^2 Women meetings. To RSVP your attendance, see details for the specific conference.
  3. Organize an N^2 Women meeting at a conference you will be attending. To organize a meeting, email N2Women-Info@acm.org for assistance. You can find an easy step-by-step plan on how to organize an N^2 Women meeting here.

In Memoriam

Our community has lost a prominent member, Dr. Jennifer Hou, who passed away on December 2, 2007, at the age of 43. Click here for more information.
