   VIETNAM: The Society

Establishment

  • Preparatory Committee for the foundation of REV established in 1965
  • REV officially founded (by Prime Ministerial Decree 313 - CT) Dec. 17,1988

REV's missions

  1. To improve and enhance continually the knowledge of scientific and technical staff.
  2. To deploy applications and bring scientific and technical progress rapidly into production.
  3. To consult the CPV and State on scientific, technological, economic and social policies.

Central Executive Committee

  • President: Prof. Nguyen Van Ngo, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
  • Vice President & Secretary General: Prof. Phan Anh, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
  • The Central Executive Committee is composed of 55 members who represent all Vietnamese professionals working in the following branches of Radio-Electronics:
    • Posts & Telematics, Communications & Transport
    • News Agency, Broadcasting
    • Defence, Public Security
    • Electronic Industry
    • Education, Research & Development

Traning & Education Activities

  1. Formal and Professional Training in ICT in national universities with the collaboration of REV, and in REV established educational institutions.
  2. Distant education: REV created centers for distant education in areas of public interest, and furnished tutors.
  3. ICT conversion training programs.
  4. Continuing Education in ICT with the collaboration of foreign academic institutions.
  5. Integration of ICT training in education at secondary school.
  6. Informal Training to all computer-illiterates.

  • REV '92, Hanoi, 25÷27/11/1992: On the reorganization and improvement of Electronics and Computer Engineering education
  • REV '94, Hochiminh, City 11÷12/11/1994: On the launch of a communication geostationary satellite for both civil and military use (Project VINASAT)
  • REV '96, Hanoi, Hochiminh City 17÷18/10/1996, On a national program to modernize spectrum planning, management, and control.
  • APSITT'97: 1997 Asia Pacific Symposium on Information and Telecommunication Technologies
  • REV '98, Hanoi, 12÷13/12/1998: On the establishment of an Earth Station for receiving photographs from international Earth Observation Satellites
  • CAFEO 2000: Hanoi, 22~24/11/2000, The 18th Conference of Asean Federation of Engineering Orgnizations
  • REV '02, Hanoi, 2÷3/11/2002: Panel discussion on the modernization of curriculum and method of education in ICT, leading to a new period of development in REV's education activities
  • REV'04, Hanoi, 28÷29/11/2004: Providing to ICT strategy makers newest information on the trend of development of Network, Internet, Mobile Communication, Satellite Communication, Digital Video Broadcasting and the CCM convergence (Computer-Communications-Media), through 9 keynote speeches from 7 international delegations
  • REV'06, Hanoi, 4÷7/11/2004: A successful conference with about 80 technical papers, 300 attendants, and the panel discussion with topic "To Utilize the Coming VINASAT Effectively". The conference also received 12 invited international speakers.
