5.8.3 IEEE Conference Grants - approved 9/3/98 -
IEEE Grant Administrator (currently Karen Galuchie) is responsible for assisting IEEE units to obtain external grant funds for conferences or projects from government agencies and private foundations.
During the planning process for ComSoc conferences, applying for grant funds through IEEE should be considered. In the past, other conferences have been successful at obtaining travel grants for students, travel grants for speakers, and grant to offset the cost of publications ranging from $2,000 to $20,000.
The IEEE Grant Administrator can assist in determining who to submit proposal to, what purpose to apply for, and how to put the proposal together(Copies of proposals which received funding, instructions on "How to Obtain Grants" with a list of government agencies who provide funding are available upon request.)
Typically proposals are submitted six months to a year prior to the conference dates from this office.
