Candidate's Statement

The frontier of communications is expanding rapidly because of globalization and the emergence of new disciplines that we need to encompass. It is essential for communications professionals to collaborate with colleagues around the world and work with members of many other professional circles. The IEEE Communications Society, together with our Sister Societies and other IEEE and related professional societies, is well positioned to serve as the focal point of this greater global community. Despite the diversity of geographic locations and technical domains, members of this community are linked together more closely than ever before, thanks to the broadband and wireless Internet technologies our members played a key role in creating.

As the communications industry goes through a historic transformation, ComSoc must redouble its effort to deliver high-quality, timely, and relevant information to the technical community. We need to enhance our Society's visibility to industry, government, and universities and to attract high caliber volunteers. If elected, I will promote the creation and dissemination of technical information at the leading edge and emphasize technical excellence in ComSoc publications, conferences, and education services. My extensive research and management experiences make me uniquely qualified to lead our Society at the onset of economic recovery, delivering exceptional value to our members while maintaining sound fiscal policy and the highest standard of professionalism.
