Robert G. Blake
Candidate's Statement
As Chair of the GLOBECOM/ICC Conference Committee (GICC), I am aware
that academic submissions to our conferences have grown as the Communications
Society has become more global. However, we have to attract more
industry members back to our Society so that there is more contact
and synergy between the academic researchers and communication system
developers, designers, operators, and manufacturers.
Biography
Bob Blake received his B.Sc. in 1964 and Ph.D. in 1970 from London

radio propagation, antennas, and spectrum policy and strategy. He
retired from BT in 1995, although he remained a part-time consultant
until 2000.
He joined the IEEE Communications Society in 1992. He assisted with
the bid, and became Executive Vice-Chair of the first GLOBECOM Conference
in Europe: London, November 1996. He was invited to join the Communications
Society GICC in 2000 and became its Chair in 2001.
