Candidate's Statement
If elected, I will focus on maintaining and furthering the top quality
of ComSoc publications by putting the best experts in the field
on editorial boards and reviewing teams of our journals/magazines,
establishing mechanisms to continuously identify key problems in
the industry on which research and our publications should focus,
facilitating the distribution of publications among ComSoc members
and the telecom community, enhancing the awareness of the responsibility
and correlation between publications and business results in the
profession, and supporting unconventional projects and thinking
to facilitate new breakthroughs in our profession.
Biography
Savo Glisic is a professor of electrical engineering at University
of Oulu, and director of the Globalcomm Institute for Telecommunications.
Active in the field of spread spectrum and wireless communications
for 30 years, he has published several papers and five books, and
holds several patents in this field. He is the author of Advanced
Wireless Communications and Adaptive WCDMA, co-author of Spread
Spectrum CDMA Systems for Wireless Communications, and co-editor
of Code Division Multiple Access Communications and Wireless Communications:
TDMA Versus CDMA.
He is a consultant in this field for industry and government. He
was Technical Program Chair of the Third IEEE ISSSTA '94, the Eighth
IEEE PIMRC '97, and IEEE ICC 2001. He was ComSoc's first Director
of Membership Programs Development and organizer/first Chair of
the ComSoc Chapter in Finland.
