Yukou Mochida
Candidate's Statement
Communications technology is the crucial base for human society's
safety and security, and ComSoc's responsibility is becoming even
greater. As a member from industry, I recognize that the Communications
Society's important mission is to establish and bridge the technology
value chain between industry and academia. If elected, I will encourage
industry members to participate and contribute to ComSoc conferences
and journals more actively, committing to their growing needs. As
a member from the Asia-Pacific Region, I will represent and communicate
evolving needs of the Region by bridging more effectively between
the international ComSoc board and regional IEEE chapters and sister
societies.
Biography
Yukou Mochida is senior vice president of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd.,
Japan, and non-executive chair of Fujitsu R&D Center, Beijing,
China. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University
of Tokyo in 1964 and 1988, respectively. In the 39 years of his
professional career, he has contributed to the telecommunication
systems industry in the fields of high-speed transport, digital
signal processing, digital network systems, and mobile communication
R&D.
A Fellow of IEEE and IEICE, he has served on various ComSoc activities
including GLOBECOM '87 in Tokyo, Associate Editor of JSAC, Vice
Chair of the Signal Processing and Communications Electronics Technical
Committee, and Vice Chair of the Asia-Pacific Board.
