Abbas Jamalipour
Candidate's Statement
The Communications Society is recognized by having a large number of active members and organizing some of the most prestigious engineering conferences and journals. But we must continually search for new ways to enhance service to members to keep that recognition. I have been trying to do my share by improving the quality and availability of publications for members in conferences that I chaired and also in the capacity of Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine. These have resulted in some breakthrough achievements such as taking the magazine to the top of the journal citations ranking list and enhancing the quality of ComSoc’s flagship conferences.
If elected, I will promote a fair-to-all and fast review processing system for paper publication. Knowing the importance of active collaboration among academia and industry, I will press for industry-oriented meetings and publications to further strengthen the industry-academia link. My other objective will be to make ComSoc flexible enough to adopt new technologies like on-line facilities for members’ benefit quickly, removing long bureaucratic procedures.
