Candidate's Statement

We need to better serve our members around the world by embracing global culture and values in ComSoc’s activities. For the past 60 years ComSoc has established a core communications community equipped with the highest standard of technical publications and conferences. Better services for our members, globally, and for the industries in which they work are essential to turn around the membership decline of recent years and make a convincing case for the value of ComSoc membership.

If elected, I will use my proven leadership and solid experience on a global scale to work very hard to extend our electronic publications, community web sites, tutorials, web seminars, industry-oriented programs, and other services to benefit all our members worldwide, while fully maintaining the traditional scholarly excellence of our publications and conferences. In addition, I will assure fiscal responsibility and transparency so that members know how their money is being spent. I will encourage new initiatives in the interests of our membership and the worldwide information/communications engineering community that best apply our own surpluses, when we have them, in addition to actively seeking grants from the IEEE and other sources.

In summary, if elected, I will pursue equitable international leadership for our Society, better services for members everywhere on the globe with different cultures, and fiscal responsibility coupled with creative initiatives on behalf of our members.
