Michele Zorzi
Candidate's Statement
The Communications Society is one of the biggest and strongest Societies within IEEE, but we would like it to grow bigger and stronger. Two specific areas that I would like to commit to are improving the quality of publications and conferences, and promoting student participation.
The technical quality of our publications and conferences is one of our most valuable assets; and keeping our leadership is a clear challenge in view of the many alternatives created in recent years that may attract good papers. The peer review process needs to be carefully evaluated to make sure it is helping to keep our standards high, especially for conferences. I would like to offer my extensive experience as an editor and member of TPCs to help address this issue.
Also, students are the future of our Society, and nurturing their participation is very important. Providing more opportunities for student participation should be a priority and if elected I will try to stimulate more discussion and provisions in this direction.
