Bob Shapiro

Biography

Robert C. Shapiro, P.E., has an ASEET from WIT in Boston in 1982, BSEE from Texas Tech University in 1984, BSBA from UT Dallas in 1990, and an MBA from the University of Dallas in 1992. He is currently Director of Land Mobile Radio Engineering at Wireless Facilities, Inc.

In Robert started his IEEE volunteer activities in 1996 with the Dallas Joint Communications/Vehicular Technology society chapters, where he was the Membership Development Chair, Treasurer, and Chair and is currently the Senior Past Chair. He was voted the IEEE Dallas Section Engineer of the Year in 2003. He has also served as the IEEE Dallas Section Treasurer and is currently the Administrative Chair. He is on the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society BOG and has served as the General Chair of VTC 2005 fall conference in Dallas. He is the current VTC fall 2007 Baltimore General Chair.

From 2002 to 2005 Robert served as the DLT Coordinator and then as the North American Director for the Society and he is currently serving as Director of Marketing. He has been working on the Expo as part of the IEEE GLOBECOM conference and he is developing a plan to further involve industry in IEEE events.
