The next SPCE-TC meeting will be at Globecom 2008 in New Orlearns on Wednesday, December 3rd 7:30-8:30 AM in room Ascot - 3rd floor.

Prof. Naohisa Ohta received the 2007 SPCE Outstanding Service Award
 

At Globecom 2007 in Washington DC, the 2007 SPCE Outstanding Service Award was awarded to Prof. Naohisa Ohta by the SPCE Chair, Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi. Prof. Naohisa Ohta was SPCE Past Chair. The SPCE Award was for continuous and outstanding contribution to the technical activities sponsored and endorsed by the SPCE Technical Committee.

The next SPCE-TC meeting is at Globecom 2007 in Washington DC, USA on Wednesday 28 November 2007, 12:00-14:00. The meeting will be held in the Solar Suite 4101 at the Hilton Hotel with lunch to be served.

 ◆ Newly elected SPCE Officers for December, 2006 - December, 2008
 

IEEE Signal Processing and Communication Electronics (SPCE) Committee has elected the new officers for their term from January 1 2007 to December 31 2009. The new Chair is Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi, Fujitsu Ltd, Japan; The Vice Chair is Professor Tomoaki Ohtsuki, Keio University, Japan; and the Secretary is Dr. Hung Nguyen, The Aerospace Corporation, USA.

Dr. Taniguchi received an Outstanding Service Award

 
 

At Globecom 2006 in San Francisco, an Outstanding Service Award from IEEE ConSoc was awarded to the newly elected SPCE Chair, Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi (right), for his continuous and outstanding contributions to the technical activities of the Communications Society, especially in the area of SPCE and for establishing the Signal Processing Symposium in ICC/Globecom. On the left is SPCE Past Chair Dr. Naohisa Ohta.

Dr. Taniguchi was elected as 2006 IEEE Fellow

 
 

At the ICC 2006 Awards Luncheon in Istanbul, Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi, SPCE Vice-Chair, was presented with IEEE Fellow plaque for "contribution to speech coding technologies and development of digital signal processing (DSP) based communications systems".
