2007 Signal Processing for
Storage
Best
STUDENT Paper Award
(Note: This is different from the overall best paper award)
The Signal Processing for Storage Technical Committee of the IEEE Communications Society is inviting nominations and applications for the 2007 Best Student Paper Award. Authors may apply personally for the award, or the paper may be nominated for the award. All papers are eligible if they satisfy the following criteria
1. The paper must have appeared in print (either as a conference paper or a journal paper) in calendar year 2007. (The paper need not appear in an IEEE publication.) Degree theses, books, book chapters, monograms, extended abstracts and technical/research reports are not eligible for the award.
2.
The topic of the paper must be relevant to signal processing and coding for data storage. Topics
covered by the Signal Processing for Storage Technical Committee are listed on
the following web site http://www.comsoc.org/socstr/org/operation/techcom/spfs/areas.html.
The text of the paper should mention and demonstrate its application to data storage.
If the paper does not explicitly mention data storage, the nominator/applicant must
write a paragraph justifying why the paper is relevant to data storage, and submit the
paragraph together with the nomination/application.
3.
The student must be the first author. If the author listing is in alphabetical
order, the remaining authors must testify (in writing) that the student
performed more than 50% of the research leading to the paper.
4. If
the nominee is no longer a student, the paper had to have been submitted for
publication within 6 months of the nominees graduation date.
Nominations and/or applications should be submitted by March 31, 2008 to
