Situation Management

Operational Situation Management Sub-Committee sees its mission in providing technology solutions for the military communication command and control, homeland defense and disaster recovery applications. Its areas of interest includes operational situation management, including situation awareness, decision support, information fusion, situation control, situation prediction, and situation management architectures and engineering solutions; semantic information processing, including semantic modeling, ontologies, knowledge representation, semantic modeling languages, tools, and platforms.

Operational Situation Management Subcommittee is synergistic and complimentary to several Comsoc Technical Committees including Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks, Network Operations and Management, Wireless Communication, Information Modeling and Autonomic Communications. Situation Management Subcommittee expands the potential future application areas for Comsoc, such as disaster situation management, homeland security, health care monitoring, and others.

Situation Management Subcommittee looks for beneficial links with related societies, including International Society of Information Fusion (ISIF), American Association of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), and International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE).

The subcommittee will organize the annual IEEE Workshop on Situation Management and the Symposium on Selected Areas Of Communication at Globecom and ICC, as well as support the organization of situation management related sessions at the International Information Fusion Conference and the SPIE Conference on Defense and Security. The members of the sub-committee provide assistance in developing and organizing technical programs for other conferences, symposia and workshops.
