Today’s smartphone can simultaneously operate on numerous wireless network architectures. This course will define these architectures along with those legacy network elements which have come and gone. We will describe the strategy behind architecture direction in the industry and provide a view of how today’s architectures may continue to evolve. Who Should Attend
Getting lost in network architecture protocols, interfaces and elements? Take this half-day course to understand how wireless network architecture was designed in the past and how it has converged with the packet-based IP networks serving the customer demands today. You will be able to stitch together various network elements with a fundamental understanding of interfaces used and the protocols which reside inside them. Finally, this course will align your understanding with the direction of the standards bodies ensuring that the path into the future is a clear one.
Jonathan LevineDirector of Engineering, Mobilitie LLC, IEEE WCP
Jonathan Levine currently holds the position of Director of Engineering for Mobilitie LLC based out of Chicago, IL. In his current role he is responsible for leading engineering design and driving the technical deployment process for wireless network evolution. His particular focus is on high density 4G/5G network deployment and next generation form-factor innovation. Prior to his current role, he spent over 10 years with U.S. Cellular. His latest role there was Member of Technical Staff for U.S. Cellular's Technology Development Group where he was responsible for the evolutionary architecture and functionality of the Radio Access Network (RAN). The RAN consists LTE, EVDO, GSM, and CDMA technologies based on both the 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards groups. Before that, he served in the USAF as a member of the 264th Combat Communications Squadron from 1999-2005. His commercial wireless engineering career began in 2005 after completion of his BSEE from Northern Illinois University. Jonathan also holds a MSEE from the Illinois Institute of Technology (2008) and is an IEEE WCP.
