Jun 2007 - Alon Newton, Director of Engineering at Wireless 2000, will succeed Dave Michelson as Chair of the Joint Communications Chapter effective 21 June 2007.  Alon has almost twenty years of experience in the RF/microwave, electro-optics, and consumer electronics industries. His last role before joining Wireless 2000 was as a Senior Development Engineer at Scientific Atlanta Canada. Alon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the Technion, Haifa, Israel and is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
Jun 2007 -  IEEE Vancouver Section thanks Prof. Dave Michelson for serving as Chair of the Joint Communications Chapter for the past eight years and wishes him well as he takes a much deserved break. Vancouver Section Chair Paul Bowler praised Dave for his achievements and contributions to both the Joint Communications Chapter and to Vancouver Section: On behalf of the Vancouver Section I would like to congratulate Dave on his success and his achievements in the last 8 years.  We thank him for his many contributions, for the incredible change, and for the professionalism he has brought to his chapter work.  His efforts have benefited IEEE members and students alike.

Aug. 2006 - The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society has named the Vancouver Joint Communications Chapter "the best in the world" and will present us with a Best Chapter Award at IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (Fall) in Montreal next month. This is the third time that we've been recognized in this manner by IEEE.  The best recognition, however, is the great response that we've had to our many presentations and mini-symposia over the past year. Thanks to all of you for your support.

Mar. 2006 - The IEEE Communications Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. David G. Michelson to both the North American Region Board and the Membership Programs Development Board.  During the next year, Prof. Michelson will represent the interests of members as the Society plans and executes both regional and membership programs.
