What is about the size of a stick of gum, weighs less than a tablespoon
of water, and provides a Linux-based embedded processor with Bluetooth
wireless technology? Answer: A Gumstix.
Founded on the belief that market demand for wireless technology is
shifting toward a ubiquitous computing environment based upon products
that support open source solutions such as Linux, Gumstix, Inc. was
formed to develop a compact product line that enables developers to
create and manage embedded devices and applications at a fraction of
the size and cost of current board and system solutions.
About the size of a stick of gum, the tiny 20mm x 80mm x 8mm Gumstix
boards allow the design flexibility needed for today's wireless
computing market. Gumstix products are built for speed using the
leading-edge Intel XScale processors and open source Linux. The
company sells direct to commercial users and designers as well as
hobbyists and open source enthusiasts.
Based near Palo Alto, California, Gumstix Inc. is privately owned and
operated. The company was created by venture capitalist and
entrepreneur Gordon Kruberg, who has founded, financed, and played
