thriving group of companies that develop
and market the technology required to exploit the underwater
environment. After a brief survey of the technology and its
historical
development, we will describe current underwater equipment and its
Commercial, Governmental and Military applications. We will then
proceed to the focus of this presentation: The wireless
communications
methods and equipment that are currently used in the underwater
environment with emphasis on those used by International Submarine
Engineering and other firms involved in near term and long term robotic
research. Finally, we will discuss future planning for harbour, near
shore and open ocean security efforts by Department of Homeland
Defense,
NOAA, US Coast Guard and US Navy.
About our speaker: Raymond F. Murphy is an American who has
been living in Canada since
1979. A twenty-seven year veteran of the US Navy he retired in the rank
of Chief Petty Officer with a specialty in Airborne Anti-Submarine
Warfare. A native of North Carolina he attended Campbell
University in
that State. As a specialist in High Technology Marketing he has
worked
with the Transportation and Distribution field, the Electrical
Marketing
Field, the Wireless Communications Field and the Ocean Systems Field.
Currently working with International Submarine Engineering Murphy is
ISEs Marketing Manager. His specific area within ISE is to market
to
the US Government and US Military. Additionally he holds the
Publicity
Chair for the IEEE/MTS Oceans 2007 Conference to be held in Vancouver,
BC next year. |
