Abstract

CBC's facilities on Mount Seymour include a pair of television transmitters (CBUT (VHF) and CBUFT (UHF)), several FM broadcast transmitters (CBC-FM and  other co-located broadcasters), a Digital Radio Broadcast transmitter, and a Base station for CBC's Electronic News Gathering equipment.  For those curious about the type of transmitters,      combiners, and antennas used in broadcast applications, this will be an excellent opportunity for a first-hand look.  During the tour, Ian Munro will discuss the challenges that CBC Distribution and Transmission Services faces when installing, maintaining, and operating 240 transmitters at 190 different sites throughout B.C. during such a volatile period for broadcast technology.
