Getting Involved

Chapter activities are an important benefit of your membership in the IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, or IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society.  And our activities are open to non-members, too.

Whether you're interested in giving a presentation, hosting a tour, or simply want to find out more about the local scene, we encourage you to get involved with the Vancouver chapter.

The IEEE GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) program promotes activities of particular interest (and relevance) to recent graduates.  If you would like to help or simply participate, please contact either our chapter's GOLD coodinator,

Jin Ng,

Jin is a recent SFU grad (BASc - Electronics Engineering).  She is currently an EIT at Telus where she has worked with various groups including Telus Mobility and Telus Advanced Communications.

or the Vancouver Section's GOLD coordinator,

Verona Wong.

Verona is a recent UBC grad (BASc - Electrical Engineering).  She is currently working at PMC Sierra.

For more information about other aspects of the Vancouver chapter, please contact our chapter chair,

Dave Michelson.

Dave is a not-so-recent UBC grad (PhD - Electrical Engineering).  His principal research interest is applied electromagnetics with applications to wireless communications and remote sensing.  He is a full-time research consultant to AT&T and an Adjunct Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC.
