Best Tutorial Paper Award

Matthew J. Moyer is a doctoral student in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech. His research interests include computer system security and information security. He is currently working on the design of a framework for flexible content- and state-based access control to data. He is also interested in proactively secure systems and secure, scalable multicast communication systems. He has received a M.S. degree in computer science from Georgia Tech (1999), a B.S degree summa cum laude in mathematics from Bucknell University (1997), and a B.A. degree in computer science from Bucknell University (1997). He is currently working as a graduate research assistant at Georgia Tech and worked previously as an intern at IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Center (1998) a graduate teaching assistant at Georgia Tech (1997, 1998, 1999) a campus computing liaison at Bucknell University (1997) and an intern at KPMG Peat Marwick (1995)and Chubb & Son (1996). He received the award for Outstanding Student in Computer Science from Bucknell’s College of Arts and Sciences (1997) and the Miller Prize for Outstanding Honors Thesis at Bucknell University (1997). He is a member of ACM, USENIX, the Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society, and Phi Beta Kappa.

Josyula R. Rao manages the Internet Security and Technology Group at IBM’s Thomas J.Watson Research Center. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992. His research interests include programming methodology, distributed systems, network security and cryptography. He is a member of IFIP’s Working Group 2.1 on Programming Methodology.

Pankaj Rohatgi is a research staff member at IBM’s Thomas J.Watson Research Center. He received his Ph.D from Cornell University in January 1994. His research interests include applied cryptography, network and systems security, complexity theory, and randomized algorithms.
