Stephen O. Rice Award

Sirikiat Lek Ariyavisitakul received his bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Kyoto University. From 1988 to 1998, he worked in research at Bellcore, Bell Labs, and AT&T Labs in New Jersey. Since then, he has been Vice-President of Research in a start-up company and is now an independent consultant. Lek is an IEEE Fellow and Secretary of ComSoc’s Communication Theory Committee. His achievements include: seminal work on anti-multipath modulation, a derivative of which became a de facto standard for 900-MHz digital cordless phones in North America; reduced-complexity equalization techniques for fixed and mobile broadband wireless applications; and unified space-time processing theory.
