EntNet Charter

The Enterprise Networking committee will focus on "end-to-end" networked solutions for enteprises. It will address end-user needs, networked applications/ services, and their support based on emerging products and enabling technologies.

Primary focus areas and examples of topics of interest to this committee are:

Enterprise Platforms and Technologies

Enterprise-wide computing, including middleware for distributed processing systems, client-serving computing, and distributed object computing.
»
Virtual Private Networking (VPNs)
Management of enterprise networks (e.g., configuration, fault, performance, accounting, security, etc.).
»
Integration of network and systems management from an enterprise viewpoint.
Techniques and methods for SLA Management
Desk Top Management
»
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Enterprise information resource management
Evolutionary approach to the deployment of new technologies and standards (e.g., handling of legacy systems/technologies).

Business to Business and Business to Consumer Relations

»
Internet/Intranet/Extranet applications, services and solutions to support the enterprise both in the back-office and in the "business to business" and "business to customer" relationships
»
Mobile Wireless voice/data applications, services and solutions: the new scenario of integrated fixed / mobile services and applications that enable new roles and new businesses for an enterprise
»
Integration of multimedia services, information appliances and info-mobility features for intra and inter-enterprise business development
»
Business support systems including Customer Relationship Management systems.
Virtual Enterprises, Small Office Home Office (SOHO)

New e-business and e-commerce models

Re-engineering of businesses

Applications Area

Applications of enterprise services and technologies in different business sectors, such as healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, banking and insurance industries

The committee will stimulate contributions in these and related areas, for presentation at major Communications Society conferences such ICC and GLOBECOM and publication in journals such as "IEEE Network" and the "IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking". It will also sponsor workshops and symposia on Enterprise Networking.
