The Technical Committee on Enterprise Networking and Services of IEEE Communications Society (EntNet) sees its mission in promoting new ideas, technologies and business applications in the area of enterprise networking and services. Enterprise networking and services is a vibrant, fast moving, as well a demanding domain, both in technology and business sense.

The next coming years will bring visible challenges to the telecommunication services industry, and particularly to the enterprise technologies and business communities. It is first determined by the technological breakthroughs in wireless broadband, integrated voice, data and video over IP, significant advancement in storage networks, and innovative solutions in distributed network management including intelligent agents and grid computing. In parallel to that the need for low-cost and innovative business solutions are driving the need for innovative and effective applications.

EntNet provides a professional forum for researchers and practitioners through its annual flagship conference EntNet @ Globecom. In addition EntNet provides technical co-sponsorships to Healthcom – an international workshop on enterprise networking and services technologies in the health care industry, and Financecom – a workshop on enterprise technologies in banking and other financial institutions. These addressed topics include enabling technologies, service infrastructures, and platforms for emerging e-business environments. EntNet also cooperates with ITU-D, the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union on using enterprise networking technologies in health care, and works together with EDOC, the Enterprise Distributed Object Conference.
