Ellersick’s work emphasized system engineering or planning for military or space command, control, and communications systems. He published numerous technical papers and reports, and was awarded several patents for his work in space communications. This prize is awarded to original papers published in any IEEE Communications Society magazine in the previous three calendar years.

Prize
Up to $500 and Plaque per author (total prize not to exceed $1,000). Maximum number of awards will be two (up to two papers per year), but only if a suitable number of recipients are identified.

Eligibility
Publication of an original paper in any IEEE Communications Society magazine in the previous 3 calendar years; author need not be an IEEE member.

Nominee Solicitation
Nominations solicited by the Chair of Magazines Paper Awards Selection Committee in consultation with Magazines Editors-in-Chief.

Selection Process
Nominations screened and shortlist prepared by the Magazines Paper Awards Selection Committee with the approval of the Magazines Editors-in-Chief. The shortlist is submitted to the IEEE Communications Society Awards Committee for final selection.

Presentation
Annually at ICC. If in any year no eligible paper is deemed to be of sufficient quality, no award will be given.

Deadline
