Position Statement
I have been a member of IEEE for over 20 years and have been serving IEEE ComSoc in various positions as distinguished lecturer, journal editor, conference organizer, TC member and leader of women activities. If elected, I will use my leadership experience and will work hard to
- Ensure IEEE ComSoc address the deep transformation in the communication systems with the inclusion of new technologies and artificial intelligence, and its applications in inter-disciplinary areas,
- Enable more affordable conference participation by reducing the cost of conference registration and providing low-cost online participation as an alternative even in the post-pandemic era,
- Promote and enhance diversity to increase the membership, leadership and volunteering positions of women, industry, students, young professionals and people from different geographical regions in IEEE ComSoc,
- Broaden the extent of online tutorials and training programs,
- Create networking and mentoring opportunities for students and young professionals.
Biography
Sinem Coleri (http://home.ku.edu.tr/~scoleri/) is a Professor and the Chair of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Koc University, Turkey. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of California Berkeley. She is a Fellow of the IEEE and Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE ComSoc. She has served IEEE in various leadership positions, including Area Editor of IEEE OJ-COMS and IEEE Communications Letters, Editor of IEEE TCOM and TVT, Member of IEEE ComSoc Publication Council, Awards Sub-Committee Member-at-Large and Publicity Chair of IEEE ComSoc Women in Communications Engineering (WICE), Student Competition Representative of Signal Processing and Computing for Communications (SPCC) TC, and TPC co-chair, co-chair and track chair of many conferences, including IEEE ICC, WCNC. She has received numerous awards, including IEEE Communications Letters Exemplary Editor Award and IEEE VTS Best Propagation Paper Award. She has published more than 130 papers in journals and conferences, and holds 10 patents.
