IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials Tops Citation Rankings for Impact Factor in Telecommunications

The IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials is an online journal published by the IEEE Communications Society, free to all the IEEE and Communications Society members. It covers all aspects of the communications field, and aims to be a premier source of peer-reviewed, comprehensive tutorials and surveys, and pointers to further sources.

According to the Thomson Reuters 2011 Journal Citation Reports released in June 2012, the impact factor of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (ComST) is 6.311 and the 5-years impact factor is 5.496. Thomson Reuters calculates the impact factor of a journal in a given year by dividing the number of articles published in the journal in the preceding two years by the number of citations to those articles from articles indexed in the Thomson Reuters database and published in the given year. ComST tops the list of 8 publications published or co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (http://www.comsoc.org/publications), which are among the top 10 publications in the area of communications technology and science.
