Special Feature

Special Section on Energy Efficiency for Internet of Things

The IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking (TGCN) is seeking papers contributing to energy efficiency in the Internet of Things (IoT), to be published in a special section of its December 2020 issue, in the same way as the “Special Section on 5G” published in its June 2019 issue. With the expected tremendous increase in the number of devices connected to IoT, highly elevated energy consumption is a serious concern. When the number of IoT devices and the networks and data centers to which they are connected is considered, energy consumption by IoT will substantially increase the rate of energy consumption growth. Papers that are on all aspects of energy efficiency in IoT communications and networking are sought. Examples include, but are not limited to, physical layer communications, new radio access technologies, energy harvesting, cloud-based radio access network, ultra-dense networks, tactile Internet, big data, smart city, autonomous vehicles, data centers, machine-to-machine communications, software defined network, edge caching, applications in transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, environmental monitoring and control, and health, all within the context of energy-efficiency maximization in IoT systems. This special issue encourages submissions of high-quality unpublished papers reporting original works in both theoretical and experimental research.

Papers will be peer-reviewed by a Special Section Editorial Board. The duration from the submissions deadline to the publication of the accepted papers is targeted to be 11 months.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Prospective authors should prepare their submissions in accordance with the rules specified in the “Information for Authors” section of TGCN submission guidelines. All manuscripts should be prepared in single-column double-spaced format with no longer than 30 pages, including figures, tables, and references. The standard IEEE journal paper template should be employed in preparing the paper. The completed paper should be submitted to the Manuscript Central Web site for TGCN. In order to route the paper properly, it is important to begin the title with the abbreviation SSIoT:. An example title would be “SSIoT: A Novel Green Modulation Technique for IoT.” Submissions that are deemed outside the scope of the Special Section will be returned to the authors and resubmission as a regular paper will be encouraged.

IMPORTANT DATES

Submitted papers are expected to follow this timetable:

Manuscript Submission: December 31, 2019
First Review Results: March 31, 2020
Second Review Results: June 30, 2020
