- About the Instructor: Jonathan Levine
As industry moves toward accelerated 5G deployments, it is necessary for all players involved to have a good idea of what is on the horizon for initial 5G deployments. In this half-day course, the instructor will describe the general 5G architecture change from 4G, providing an overview of what technical enhancements are included in the recently published (Dec 2017) 3GPP 5G-NR Standard and the associated work currently taking place in the wireless industry. The focus of this course is to provide insights into the opportunities enabled by this standard in an easy to understand reference for business strategy.
Who Should Attend
Anyone seeking to understand what technical enhancements are included in the recently published (Dec 2017) 3GPP 5G-NR Standard and the associated work being doing in the wireless industry.
The course is presented in a way that anyone with general wireless experience will be able to understand the key points. However, anyone with experience in understanding 4G LTE network architecture and function will have a better understanding of the concepts.
Jonathan LevineDirector of Engineering, Mobilitie LLC, IEEE WCP
Jonathan Levine currently holds the position of Director of Engineering for Mobilitie LLC based out of Chicago, IL. In his current role he is responsible for leading engineering design and driving the technical deployment process for wireless network evolution. His particular focus is on high density 4G/5G network deployment and next generation form-factor innovation. Prior to his current role, he spent over 10 years with U.S. Cellular. His latest role there was Member of Technical Staff for U.S. Cellular's Technology Development Group where he was responsible for the evolutionary architecture and functionality of the Radio Access Network (RAN). The RAN consists LTE, EVDO, GSM, and CDMA technologies based on both the 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards groups. Before that, he served in the USAF as a member of the 264th Combat Communications Squadron from 1999-2005. His commercial wireless engineering career began in 2005 after completion of his BSEE from Northern Illinois University. Jonathan also holds a MSEE from the Illinois Institute of Technology (2008) and is an IEEE WCP.
