A big step lies ahead when moving from today’s 4G cellular networks to tomorrow’s 5G network. Today the network is used for content delivery. Tomorrow, the 5G network will provide a ubiquitous Tactile Internet infrastructure for controlling and steering real and virtual objects, which requires latency and resilience to be met by designing networks along new paradigms. The resulting Tactile Internet will shape our future and our society, touching almost every part of life.
 
Taught by Frank Fitzek, wireless and mobile 5G communication networks expert, and Gerhard Fettweis, Co-Chair of the IEEE 5G Initiative and original creator of the concept of Tactile Internet, this new course will introduce both the requirements and the technical solutions that enable the Tactile Internet, presenting a holistic understanding of 5G technologies.

The scope of positioning solutions have expanded significantly since the U.S. FCC mandated automatic location reporting on emergency calls from cellular phones in the 1990's. 
 
However, many problems remain, particularly in regard to positioning accuracy indoors and in other environments where GPS operation is significantly limited.
 
Deployment of LTE and LTE Advanced, using OFDM modulation which was not incorporated in previous generation cellular networks, has obligated new methods for implementing handset and network based positioning as a backup to GPS and to gain flexibility in meeting the requirements of ever increasing location applications and services.
