The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Wireless Communications (WCM) for a two–year term starting on July 1, 2022. The term is renewable for up to additional two years.

IEEE WCM, which is a bimonthly peer-reviewed publication of ComSoc, is considered to be one of the most important sources of state-of-the-science wireless communications information. According to the Web of Science Journal Citation Reports 2020, in terms of impact factor, WCM ranks 7th among all publications in the “Engineering, Electrical & Electronic” category. The technical topics covered by WCM span the entire field of wireless communications and networking. Specifically, it covers technical, policy and standard issues relating to wireless communications in all media (and combinations of media), and at all protocol layers. Written in a tutorial style, the articles published in IEEE WCM deliver practical, current information on hot topics, implementations, and best industry practices by Open Call and various Special Issues. These articles are complemented by Book Reviews and Industry Perspectives.

Nominee:

The nominee for the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she must have extensive IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include excellence in:  technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills; and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the Magazine forward. Applicants will be considered for this position without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.

The duties of the EiC include interacting with the Technical Editors, the Special Issue editors, the ComSoc publications staff, and also authors. The EiC must ensure that the Magazine follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, prepare a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC) when requested, execute the policies established by the Editorial Board, and maintain the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the Magazine.

The EiC will report to the ComSoc Director of Magazines and Vice-President Publications. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the ComSoc Magazines Board. The EiC is expected to participate in the ComSoc Magazines board during the ComSoc Publications Council meetings, and to organize/lead Editorial Board meetings at least at IEEE ICC and IEEE Globecom. The term of service will be from 07/01/2022 to 06/30/2024 and be renewable for up to additional two years.

Nominations must include:

  1.  Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2.  A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3.  A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of EiCs who have worked with the candidate.
  4.  Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the magazine and special qualifications for the position.
  5.  The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined in a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
