Course Description

As industry moves toward accelerated 5G deployments, it is necessary for all players involved to have a good idea of what is on the horizon for initial 5G deployments. In this half-day course, the instructor will describe the general 5G architecture change from 4G, providing an overview of what technical enhancements are included in the recently published (Dec 2017) 3GPP 5G-NR Standard and the associated work currently taking place in the wireless industry. The focus of this course is to provide insights into the opportunities enabled by this standard in an easy to understand reference for business strategy. If you are looking to understand what is defined in the 3GPP Standard and how that relates to the ITU definition for 5G, this course will clarify that for you.

Who Should Attend

Anyone seeking to identify an overview of the technical enhancements included in the initially published (Dec 2017) 3GPP 5G-NR Standard and the associated work being doing in the wireless industry. This half day course is designed to inform industry professionals who may not have a clear understanding of what 5G-NR is. A clear reference to 5G-NR definitions, standards, and network architecture will be discussed.

The course is presented in a way that anyone with general wireless experience will be able to understand the key points. However, anyone with experience in understanding 4G LTE network architecture and function will have a better understanding of the 5G concepts. Although this is not an in depth 5G design or network operation level course, the concepts and flow with help you piece together a strategic understanding of how 5G will operate and coexist with existing wireless networks.
