Course Description

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the wireless cellular system that comes after 3G. Designed from the ground up as a long term evolution of the 3G systems, it came with a new OFDMA-based air interface and an All-IP Network to provide many improvements over the 3G cellular networks.

Unlike earlier cellular packet technologies like HSPA (which are constrained to operate within the frameworks of 3G networks), LTE is deeply optimized for wireless data throughout all the layers of its protocol stack.

In this one-day course, we review the fundamentals of LTE including why LTE is used and how it works.

Who Should Attend

Anyone working in wireless (students, engineers, researchers, etc.) interested in understanding LTE and how it is evolving will benefit from taking this course. Those who are more interested in 5G, or even LTE-Advanced, but are not familiar with LTE, would do well to take a course like this first, to get a foundation in LTE and its technologies. This course is a great starting point to move on towards more advanced information delivered in the Beyond LTE: LTE Advanced, LTE Advanced Pro and 5G course on 5 June.
