Liangping Ma

Liangping Ma is Sr. Staff Engineer with Qualcomm, working on 5G NR standards. He was with InterDigital from 2009 to 2019, where he was a 3GPP RAN1 delegate, led the research on short-blocklength channel coding and Quality of Experience (QoE) driven video streaming and interactive video communication, and applied machine learning to signal processing problems. From 2005 to 2009, he was with San Diego Research Center and Argon ST (acquired by Boeing), where he led the development of a modem for wireless sensor networks. He is the co-inventor of more than 40 granted/pending patents and the author/co-author of more than 50 journal and conference papers. He teaches 5G NR at UC San Diego Extension. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from University of Delaware in 2004 and his B.S. in physics from Wuhan University, China, in 1998.
